To Love, Honour and Betray

This is a book by Kathy Lette and is my new all-time favourite book. The story follows Lucy, an English mother abroad in Australia with her husband, Jasper. A happy story- until Jasper leaves her for her interior-decorator best friend Renee.

The story revolves around how Lucy copes with the man she loves leaving her, two rebelling daughters, various financial and legal issues, a snake of a best friend, shocking twists and finally, finding new love where she least expected it.

I loved this book because it had me laughing every five minutes. Lucy's sense of humour is one I've never encountered before, but her witty and inspired banter kept me amused the whole way. The storyline was also really great in that it wasn't just another boring story about some poor woman who's lost her beloved husband, re-models herself into a supermodel and then tells him where to get off when he comes crawling back before riding off into the sunset with her young, incredibly handsome new boyfriend.

There are some really good plot twists and lots of suspense- such as when she realises that her fling with heaps-younger stud Sebastian was actually a scheme Renee cooked up in order to get custody of Lucy's pretty daughter, Ruby. I LOVED the way Lucy solved this enormous, scandalous problem and the ending was most satisfactory. In conclusion, a great book :)
