Arthur Penhaligon, boy from the human realms who has suddenly found himself the "Rightful" Heir to the Architect's House, has defeated Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday, Drowned Wednesday, and Sir Thursday (All from the previous books). Obtaining a sorcerous key and a part of the Architect's living Will with each victory. Now, as he prepares to face Lady Friday so that he can finish this cosmic business, saves his family, and get back to having a normal life, he is extremely surprised by receiving a message from Lady Friday saying that she has given up her throne, and has left her part of the Will as well as her key in her portion of the Middle House, for whoever finds it first. Arthur has to race Superior Saturday and the Piper (enemies he encountered in his previous adventure) to Lady Friday's Scriptorium (a room in a monastery for storing, copying, illustrating, or reading manuscripts) and find the disguised artifacts.
Help provided from his old friends, Suzy Turquoise Blue and Fred Initial Numbers Gold. But Arthur must be cautious of them, because they are also Piper's children (beings whose will's can be taken over by the Piper if he is close enough for them to hear him give an order).
Meanwhile, back in the Secondary Realms, Arthur's friend Leaf is witness to what Lady Friday has been doing -- which is, making off with coma patients from hospitals and taking them through a portal to another world, another planet, where she stores them for her to later experience, a practice that Arthur learns about only after making his journey to the Middle House and encountering and assisting the Winged Servants of the Night in their battle against the Artful Loungers, as well as Friday's Dawn and his contingent of Gilded
Avenger is a very good book for teens and I really enjoyed it even with out all the swearing.
The book is about 5 teenage spies having to stop a bomb master who has bombed large Monuments from all over the world, with teenagers.
Danny Watts the main character was helped by his 2 comrades named Deveraux and Elena. They both need to go undercover as a snitch in the mission. Deveraux is compromised from her recent mission so she has to control how the talking goes between Black Star (terrorist's leader).
Elena is then sent to the field were she will be acting as a over emotional girl named Gola. Elena helps Black Star to much. Will she be able to finish the mission or will she die trying.
This was when the Great Prophecy came true. The war between the gods and the Titans, especially the most powerful titans, Kronos - the father of Poseidon, Zeus and Hades had finally begun. All the Olympians had to fight with Typhon, the greatest monster of all time. There's only one god left, Hestia- the god of hearth, the last olympian. Only Percy can protect the Empire State Building where the Olympus stays on the 500th floor. Unfortunately, the enemy force was too big and Percy was losing more and more fighters. Just when it seemed like they are going to lose, Hades and Poseidon came to the rescue. Poseidon with his army trapped the Typhon for just a few minutes while all the other 11 gods were fighting it for days. Hades appeared with his son Nico and the whole army of the dead, slashing all the enemy. However, Kronos made a protection wall around the Empire State building and ran up to the 500th floor. Its all up to Percy, Annabeth and Grover to try and kill him. Can they do it? Can Percy do it? Can he defeat the most powerful Titan and receive a wish that no hero was given for hundred years?
This is a book by Jeff Kinney. I love this book. It is both funny and interesting. it is about a simply child who is pretty much a nerd.. I'm pretty sure most of you have already read this book but like.. yeah.. i like it. i especially like it because it's the newest one, i have read all books from no.1 through 5. This book if not just for people for my age either. I've seen people at the ages of 20 reading this as well as people at the ages of 10. I believe that this is a good book because it is something i can relate to. it keeps me on my toes although i must admit that sometimes, the book will begin to become slightly boring which may lower your expectations. Even though most of you have already read this book, I recommend all of you to read it. Maybe not Ms. Chapman though because i don't think she will really like this book. I recommend this book to anybody in need of a book which they can read. i don't know if they provide this book in the library although they provide other books from this series but you must get it fast because others are looking for them too. As a conclusion, i believe this book in fantastic and isn't boring throughout. this is a book by CARLTONATICCCCC!!!
Percy set another school on fire. And he also found a mortal that can see through the mist, even clearer than him. Percy nearly turn 15 now, 1 more year till the Great Prophecy which said that he'll be the one who decide the fate of Olympus when he turn 16.
Luke, the traitor, was finding a way through the Labyrinth to attack the camp from the inside. Thousands and thousands of monsters would come to attack the camp and no one can stop it. The Labyrinth is the magical maze, which was built by Daedalus, that live and grow by itself, getting bigger day by day. On the way through the maze, he found Nico - son of Hades - who ran away after he found out about his sister's death and blamed Percy for that, and managed to talk to him.
It was up to Percy and Annabeth to find a way to the middle of the maze to find Daedalus and told him not to help Luke's army. It was impossible but then he realised that he know the way to get through the maze. But even if he reach Daedalus, can he stop Luke's army from invading the camp?
Percy, Annabeth, Thalia and Grover was on a mission to bring two demigods, Bianca and Nico, back to camp when a little incident happened. They nearly got killed by a manticore when the Hunters, lead by Artemis - sister of Apollo, rescued them. Unfortunately when the manticore jumped down the cliff, he took Annabeth with him. The manticore mentioned something about the Stirring Monster and Artemis decided to go find and kill the monster. She left the Hunters and told them to go to half-blood camp. They were back to camp for several days when Percy dreamt about Annabeth was tricked to hold a ceiling from falling down by Luke who betrayed the camp and follow the Titans and Zoe Nightshade, Artemis' lieutenant, dreamt about Artemis in trouble. Later Percy found out that the Titans used Annabeth as a bait to trick Artemis to hold the ceiling, and the ceiling is atually the sky which used to be hold by Atlas.
Percy, Thalia, Grover, Zoe Nightshade and Bianca, who joined the Hunters, went on a quest to safe Artemis and Annabeth. They got a prophecy that 5 would leave the camp to go on the quest but only 3 would return.
This is the second book in Percy Jackson's series. It was the last day of school and Percy thought that this year would be the first school year that he won't get expelled when a bunch of cannibal giants came and burn down the gym for him. Just when he nearly lost and got killed, Annabeth, his camp mate, rescued him. He went to camp and found out that Thalia's tree - the tree that helps keeping the monsters and mortals out of the camp - was poisoned.
He started to get dreams about Grover, his satyr friend who was on a trip to find Pan - the wild god - and hadn't return yet. Grover was stuck in an island in the sea of monsters with a Polyphemus who thought Grover was a female-Polyphemus. It won't be long until he find out that Grover is actually a satyr and eat him. Grover created a 'sympathy link' because it's the only way he could tell Percy what was happening and if he die, Percy would die as well.
Now Percy has to go and rescue Grover, also to get the Golden Fleece to cure Thalia's tree or the camp will be invaded by monsters, big ones.
One of the books I have read recently is called "The Stars Shine Down" by Sidney Sheldon. This book is fictional and I think the theme is classical but overall the book is really absorbing and a good way to pass your time. In addition to that I would like to warn you students, who are interested in this book, that this book contains quite sensitive information so just bear that in mind. The main character of this book is a woman called Lara Cameron. She grew up in a poor town in Canada called Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and was loathed by her father right from when she was born. He claimed that she had "killed his only love" by being born into this world. Since Lara was born she was harshly challenged by the world and didn't feel any remorse when her uncaring father died when she was a teenager. After her father's death Lara decided to indulge herself in real estate and faced many challenges like: bankruptcy, having to sleep with men against her will, keep up her good publicity and most importantly, to gain her true love. She found it when she met the reincarnation of Mozart, Phillip Adler. In the story Lara had also been under the acquaintance of a man where his family is closely related to the mafia, nearly lost her love, and many more delighting events to read. Personally I like this kind of book a lot and recommend it for people who wants a good time to know about real estate, romance, the mafia and much more!
This is the book that I am reading recently. I haven’t quite finished it but I think it is really interesting so I decide to recommend it to everyone. Its genre can be assumed as mysterious, if there is that kind of genre. The book is about a girl named Kim Hockney. According to the story, she is a college student and is having a holiday. She goes home to visit her family. Throughout the first two or three chapters, she says that she has a sister who has been missing since she was 12 or younger. The structure is quite complicated, she keeps flashing back to the past and then back to the present. Sometimes I just have to question how old is she actually. In her flashback, she describes the day she lost her sister in lots of details. She explains how did she feel, describes what did her sister- Judy- wear, how did other people look at them, where did they go. Not in order thought. After Judy’s missing , Kim and her parents tried everything to find her. They seem to be hopeless until some evidences turn up. This is so far what I read.

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's–the very place where they're most in danger. Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.
This book is the second series of ‘The Cherub’ and it is called ‘Class A’. I started reading this book after Tyler said this is really a good book and actually, it is a really good book to read and I cannot stop reading them. This series is in the library but it is quite popular so I just started from the second one.
The Cherub is a branch of British Intelligence made by the agents of aged 10 to 17. Those children are mainly orphans and they are trained in the building in countryside. They wear a different shirt colours depend on their effort and age. The main character is James and he joined the Cherub with is sister called Lauren.
In ‘Class A’, James gets on a mission considered as a high risk and he helps to find the evidence to catch a drug dealer. So James goes into that town with the other agents, pretending that they are actually a family. Each of the Cherub agents has a person to get close and James becomes a part of the kids that hands drugs to other people.
However, even though they were restricted to take drugs, some of the agents actually took drug. One of them takes a Class A drug which would make them to be kicked out of Cherubs.
James actually gets along with this family quite well so he starts to deal with the Class A drug dealers. Finally, he achieves the mission successfully and starts to wear a Black t-shirt which is given to the people who had achieved an outstanding effort on their mission.
This book was the one that I felt really exciting and enjoyable while I was reading it and I couldn’t stop while I was reading it. I’d like to recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a book with exciting adventures of secret agents.

I think this book is a great book because it is a fantasy which is realistic and it relates to old magic.
Harry Potter is now a wizrd. It his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraf and Wizrdry. Some messages on the walls on the school's corridors warn that the "Chamber of Secrets" has been opened and that the "heir of Slytherin" will kill all students who do not come from all-magical families. These threats are followed by attacks. Throughout the year, Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger investigate the attacks, and Harry is now with Lord Voldemort as a teacher , who is attempting to get full power. Meanwhile, Harry, Ron, and Hermione discover Moaning Myrtle, the ghost of a girl who was killed the last time the Chamber was opened. Myrtle shows Harry a diary about the name Tom Marvolo Riddle. There he sees Tom Riddle, a student at the time, the blame for opening the Chamber on Rubeus Hagrid, who was then thirteen years old. Four months later, the diary is stolen. However, she holds a note explaining that the one who stole was a basilisk . Hermione say that the monster travels through the school's pipes and walk through the toilet Myrtle haunts.
This is a fiction book type written by Kate Thompson in 2005. It is the winner of both the Whitbread Children's Book Award and the 2005 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. After reading this book, I find that the plot is really boring because it just rotates around how music can inspire people to do something, a fact that everyone has known very clearly; in other words, there is no any other complicated or interesting fact about the characters or any special moments to 'hook' me. You can find this by looking at the chapters in the story-Each of them is very short; about 10 page long and there is a sheet with musical notes written on it, which makes the story more boring in terms of structure.
For the plot part, the book just rotates around with the giving presents for Helen Liddy all the time without adding or having any great details and sentence structures that make the story more interesting; it just lists facts and facts with no descriptions for each one. The only change that the author has made is that there is a fifteen year-old boy, called JJ, keeps coming to Helen's house to invite her to come to his house. This is even more boring.
In conclusion, I would not recommend you to read this book because it is exactly as same as a sleep-maker.
Marcus and Eddie are best friends and were nicknamed Black and White. The reason because Marcus is black and Eddie is white. They're stars of their school basketball team. They looked past stereotypes and found a way to break through the racial barrier. But with one mistake made and their friendship and lives will be change forever.
This is an interesting book because if have two narrators and they're Marcus and Eddie. The story is revoled around the normal high school. Eddie one day found a gun from his father's room nad decided to use it to make money with Eddie. They have been on many robberies but someday the truth will be find out.
It's about a boy named Perseus Jackson but everyone calls him Percy. He was kicked out of 6 schools in 6 year and in year 6 he found out that he's not who he thinks he is. He had always thought that he's a mortal but actually he's a demigod, son of Poseidon - the god of the sea and earthquake. He went to a camp for half-bloods and went on a quest to find back his mother, who was taken by the Minotaur, and Zeus' lightning bolts from Hades. But then he found out that Hades is actually not the thief.
This is the second book of the Maximum Ride series, and Max is on the run. She runs away from the Institute, which is the place she went to find out about the parents, and killed Ari
(an Eraser). She rus away, but after a few days, a bunch of Erasers come chasing after her. It isn't unusual for the Erasers to chase her, but this time, they have wings, and their leader Ari - whom Max had killed - is back from the dead.
After the fight with the Erasers, the flock - Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman, and Angel, head to Washington, where most of the flock's parents seems to be living in. However, Fang is hurt badly after the fight, and has to go to the hospital. Due to the fact that the flock has wings, the FBI come to research about them. Max makes a deal to go to an FBI agent (Anne)'s house and stay there and make the doctors cure Fang, and Max will give information.
The flock has peace in Anne's house, and they have to go to school, which they've never been to.
However, the school was actually a trip to capture the flock, so they had to leave urgently and head to Anne's house. There, Max finds a surprising fact that Anne was actually a leader of the School (the place where they made Max bird-kid and is trying to catch her).
As a result, the flock are on the run again, and this time to the company named Itex. This company is planning to destroy the world and it's Max's mission to stop them. On the other hand, the School had made a clone of Max, and replaces Max with the clone. The clone leads the flock into Itex, but Max manages to escape and the flock is rejoined. The flock is on the run....again.
This book is a great book, but I recommend that you read the first one first (Maximum Ride - The Angel Experiment). It's full of suspense and the action keeps on going from start to finish.
I know that Rosie has blogged all the Vampire Academy series. She let me borrow her books, and they really are amazing. So I bought the books myself as well. I read all of them 3 times already. That good. (: THANKYOU ROSIE (:
Frostbite is the second book in the series. There are 3 types of vampires. The Moroi, the Dhampirs and the Strigois. Morois and Dhampirs are born, but the Strigois are made. Strigois are immortal vampires who hunt down the Morois.
The main character in the book is Rose. She is a Dhampir -a half human, half Moroi. She is a guardian, like most Dhampirs. Guardians who are Dhampirs protect the Morois (Royals) from danger and Strigois.
Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose... It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians--including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway.
This book has a sad ending; her friend, Mason, who had the biggest crush on her EVER, has died due to a Strigoi attack in her face. She is devastated and scared at the same time.
You should TOTALLY read the series. They are sooooooooooooooooo much better than Twilight. AWESOME (: Highly recommended. The 5th book is coming out on May 18th!
After watching the superb movie, I decided to read the books (mostly because Alice kept mentioning how the film had altered the original story).
The Vampire's Assistant is told in the first person, coming from main character Darren's perspective. He's your typical teenage boy; his best friend, Steve, isn't. They both have unusual interests- Darren adores spiders and Steve is obsessed with vampires.
One night, they go to the Cirque du Freak- an illegal freak show. After a few events that I won't share here, Darren discovers that Steve would willingly give up everything to become a vampire. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you view it), Steve is denied his request. Darren steals one of the show's stars, a spider named Madam Octa and from there onwards he spends as much time as possible training her.
Eventually, Steve finds out about Madam Octa and offers to help Darren train her. Inevitably, this ends disastrously, with Madam Octa biting Steve. He lapses into a coma and Darren almost loses his mind with worry, fear and guilt. He decides to visit the vampire he stole the spider from, and realises that he'd been deceived from the start.
He makes a deal with the vampire- he will become his assistant in return for a serum that will save Steve's life. Both ends of the bargain are kept, but in the crossfire Steve turns against Darren, believing he deliberately plotted against him in order to steal the future Steve so desperately sought.
It's a great book, if a little short and suspenseful. But I can't wait to read the others and find out more about Darren's new life as the vampire's assistant. :)
Fabity Fab Georgia Nicolson has once again managed to accidentaly go back into the Cake shop of Luuurve and Pick up Dave the tart AND The Italian Stallion.
See, she has always been in a pickle with love and the sorts. In the first book, She liked Robbie, but he moved to New Zealand and they were no longer and item. However, in order to try and get Robbie to notice her, she uses Dave the Laugh as a red herring. Unfortunatly, Georgia is clueless to the fact that he really really likes her and that even she, when she is chasing after another bloke, likes Dave too.
I love how in the end she FINALLY realises this, and they get together. This series consists of 10 books, and this plot has been going on for a very very long time so when you do find out that she picks Dave The laugh, you get really really happy :) I don't know if you will, but I was happy =]
The other thing I love about this series is that she creates her own sort of language. Not like, piglatin so you have no idea what she is saying throughout the whole book, but just some words which made this very interesting.
For example, very is Vair. She calles her dad Vati, Her mom Muti. Instead of saying something is extremly cool, she will say it is cool which double nobs on( or something like that :S)
Anyway, You really should read this book and the whole series, its vair vair good with Nobs on :)
I have to go because I am away on a fast camel =]
Tyler
ps. If you read the books you will understand what that means ;)
This book is ok.. I like it because it includes action, suspence and romance... Kinda like the other series. I also like it because it continues the harry potter series. I must admit though that the other books were better. You may not agree with me. I don't like the fact thet Harry is grown up... it just kinda ruins it. I reccomend this book to anyone really, although don't expect too much because you will definately not get it.
The fourth and latest instalment in the series. Rose has set off to Russia in an effort to locate and eradicate Dimitri. After a few intriguing bumps, she finds him, but can't bring herself to murder him.
He kidnaps her and tries to convince her to turn Strigoi, promising that they could be together forever. After a nail-biting length of time, Rose declines and stages her escape, which goes well until Dimitri starts hunting her. That ends with a showdown on a bridge, where Rose asks him why he wants her to turn. When he gives the wrong answer, she stakes him, telling him that she will always love him forever. He falls into the water and is carried away by the current.
Rose returns to the Academy to finish her final semester (after mentally saving Lissa from a deranged Moroi named Avery). Along the way she discovers an old myth...or so it seems. The myth tells that there is one man who claimed to know of a cure for Strigoi...as in, he knew how to turn them back. Unfortunately, the only person who knows his location is his brother, Victor Dashkov...the same Moroi who tortured Lissa for her healing abilities.
The ending is so climactic! Rose discovers Dimitri wasn't killed when she staked him and she plots to bust Victor out of prison. Let's see where her resolve takes her. Can't wait for Spirit Sound!
This book is about a girl named Abbey. Her best, and only, friend, Kristen, died the day she went to her cabin. After that day, Abbey was all alone and lost in her world. Then at Kristen's funeral, she met Caspian. He was very handsome, he had blonde hair that almost looks like it's white. She began to feel like living again and starts to enjoy life. Then she found out that he's not what she really thinks he is.
Shadow Kiss, the third novel in this exciting series, was quite a bit darker than the earlier books (except for one part in the first novel). Adrian Ivashkov seems to be a regular feature in Rose and Lissa's lives now and Lissa's spirit abilities are under a lot of scrutiny.
When the campus is attacked by Strigoi, it's up to Rose and the other guardians to protect the Moroi and other dhampirs in the Academy. They succeed in doing so, but not without a few casualties. They then stage a rescue mission into the caves where the victims were taken and again, most are saved...but some are not.
Including Dimitri, Rose's soul mate. But he doesn't get killed...no, he's turned...into a Strigoi, the very creature he'd dedicated his life to destroying.
At the end, Rose embarks on a mission to kill Dimitri in order to save his soul, just as she'd promised him she would two books earlier.
Read this book because it's amazing, but prepare to have your heart broken along with Rose's.
The second novel in the series. A horrific twist has come to the attention of the dhampirs and Moroi- the fact that the Strigoi are now receiving aid in their homicides from humans. This brings their threat to a whole new level and the world of good vampires must battle back hard to prevent extinction.
Just as good, if not better than the first book, Frostbite had me stuck into it after only a few pages. Rose’s confusing love triangle between Dimitri and Mason had me reading for as long as possible and I found myself quickly immersing myself in her life and story.
This whole series is worth reading. Although the ending was quite sad; I really hadn’t wanted Mason to do what he did but I understand why and it made sense. In any case, it’s an epic series.
I only recently took up the Vampire Academy series and I have to say, Twilight has been trumped. This series has so much more substance than the Twilight novels and they focus on more than just a dysfunctional relationship.
Rose is a dhampir- half Moroi, half human- destined to be a guardian to Lissa, a Moroi princess. It’s her job to ensure that the Strigoi (evil, unnatural vampires that kill for blood) never endanger her welfare.
Rose and Lissa have been on the run for two years but are eventually caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy- a safe haven where dhampirs learn to fight and Moroi take other classes.
I now have a new favourite series! The drama was catching in this novel and I was soon caught up in the world of vampires. While the plot and background are a little harder to comprehend at first than Twilight, it's definitely worth it.
It's about a boy named Greg. He's writing a 'journal' about his life so that when he gets famous and rich he will give his journals to the press instead of answering questions about his childhood. Journal means no feelings or emotions. Each book is about him dealing with a member of his family or a friend. It's really funny :)
The eighth instalment in the Alex Rider series. Definitely one of the best yet!
Alex Rider, 14 -year-old superspy, stumbles on another adventure concerning the suspicious activities of Desmond McCain and genetically modified food. When he's alone in Africa with no aid from MI6, it's up to Alex once again to save the world from disaster...without them knowing it.
Oh, and it doesn't help that he gets harassed by a journalist who's figured out his secret.
I've followed the Alex Rider series religiously, and I was ecstatic when I managed to locate Crocodile Tears. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. Anthony Horowitz delivered yet another action-packed novel where everything was as realistic as possible and the adventure kept you hooked all the way.
I thought it was great how Alex and Sabina remained close even after enduring multiple "incidents" together and when, at the very end, Alex and Jack discuss his upcoming fifteenth birthday, I felt really downhearted because that meant it was the end for Alex Rider novels. Anthony Horowitz has always claimed that Alex's missions would cease once he turned fifteen, and I'd always kind of hoped it would never happen. But oh well, it was a fantastic series nonetheless.
Ark Angel is one of the Alex Rider series. This is about an adventure that Alex has while he’s staying at a famous hospital called ‘St. Dominic’s’ and he meets a new friend called Paul. Paul’s room is beside Alex’s Room and accidently, Alex’s room number and Paul’s room number is in other way around and Alex gets captured by this terrorists but luckily come back alive. Paul’s father, Nikolei Drevin is one of the richest people in the world and he’s working on a great plan to build a Space Hotel with British Government. Alex gets invited to his house and decided to go and see the launch of the spaceship. However, when he’s moving to America, he’s visa gets expired and he cannot go into United States. He decides to stay in an airport for awhile but someone takes him to the other place. CIA ask Alex, one of the MI6 member to help to capture Nikolei. Alex agrees and he goes to an island in Pacific Ocean. Actually, the truth was that Nikolei made an eco-terrorist by himself and pretend that he’s in danger of the terror from this organization and even his son, Paul’s being used. Alex finds this out but he gets in danger because Nikolei realizes that he’s a MI6 agent. Eventually, Nikolei dies and Alex goes to the space and stops the machine.
Another great book by R.L. Stine, famous horror writer and author of the fabulous Fear Street series.
Selena is a talented actress but suddenly she's being harassed by a mysterious, threatening stalker who warns her to back out of the school production of Romeo and Juliet...or else. Her best friend Katie pleads with her to drop out but Selena is adamant about remaining in her role as Juliet. When her friend is murdered by "The Sun" (as the stalker has been named), Selena reconsiders but ultimately decides to be Juliet in honour of her friend's memory. The Sun isn't pleased about that and it all comes down to a final showdown in the school auditorium...
I liked this book. It wasn't ground-breaking literature, but it was an amusing and suspenseful read. I could kind of guess who The Sun was from the start but then that may have just been a lucky guess. All in all, definitely worth reading on a rainy day.
This book was really confusing for me, possibly because I haven't read this first book (Uglies). It's about a girl named Tally Youngblood and it's set in a sort of parallel universe where people are Uglies and then become Pretties. They have all sorts of future technology and surgery is a regular procedure for them.
I was so lost throughout the book because it was so complicated and hard to follow that the only real thing I understood was that apparently Tally had lost some of her memories from before she became a Pretty, as had most of the other Pretties. She discovered some sort of pill that she herself had made in some sort of alter-ego Past Tally state. Even that had me completely confused.
All in all it was a good book but I would definitely recommend reading Uglies first. I don't usually have trouble picking up the storyline even if I've forgone earlier novels but with this one it really isn't easy to catch the gist.
This book is FANTASTIC. It's by David Morrell and is about a man named Frank Balenger who sneaks into an abandoned building from the 20th century along with some "creepers" (people who routinely trespass on old, forgotten sites). The night turns deadly soon enough, what with three dangerous thieves and a homicidal psychopath inhabiting the building.
I thought this book was one of the best books ever written. The plot is well thought-out and intricate without being boringly complex. The various twists and turns leave you practically breathless. I thought Balenger was one of the most interesting characters I've ever read about and the plot itself was amazing. You're really drawn into the allure of a building that once commanded awe and admiration but has since crumbled away to a deteriorating shadow of its former grandeur.
The only part I didn't like was how they killed off Cora. I liked Cora and didn't think she deserved to die. But then again the book was more into reality than fairness, and in real life that's just how it is.
In conclusion, this book is a must-read. If it isn't adapted into a film soon, it will be a literary travesty.
This is by Julia Clarke and was honestly a drag to read. It's about this girl Emily who joins "The Kissing Club" and makes a pledge to remain a virgin until marriage.
However, she ends up pregnant.
The plot itself was good but I felt bored the whole time I read it. Emily's denial towards her pregnancy annoyed me. While that may be because I can't quite comprehend her situation, the truth of the matter is that I was bored to tears reading it.
I liked the ending though. A redeeming section, if only one of few. The most fascinating part was where we find out who the father is. But even that was only mildly engaging.
This is actually a blog on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 & 2 but the title wouldn't allow it.
The novels are by Ann Brashares and they revolve around four different girls: Carmen, Tibby, Bee and Lena. Although they're pretty unique, the four of them are best friends and have been since they were babies. They've never been apart for an extended length of time, but one summer that all changes. Carmen goes to visit her father, Bee goes to soccer camp in Baja, Lena goes to Greece to visit her grandparents and Tibby remains in their hometown.
Before the girls separate, they encounter a pair of "magical" jeans that somehow manage to fit all their body shapes perfectly, despite having different proportions. Deciding to use the jeans as a way of staying "together" over the summer, they dub them "The Traveling Pants".
As the girls embark on their various endeavours, the jeans help them gain maturity and the clarity they need to grow as individuals. From Carmen's shock at having a whole new step-family to Bee's forbidden infatuation to Lena's misadventures with Kostos to Tibby's unexpected tween friend, the Pants show the girls just what they're really made of.
BOOK TWO.
It's another summer apart for the four girls. This holiday sees Bridget, who has gone from energetic and reckless to lost and confused within a year, going back to her childhood roots in Alabama. She meets her previously-estranged grandmother and pretends to be "Gilda" until she finally reconnects with her true personality at the end of the summer.
Meanwhile, Tibby has gone to college for a summer filmmaking course, where she meets people she views as "cool". In an attempt to impress them, she creates a humiliating video about her mother; once she sees the effect it has though, she realises the error of her ways. Ditching the fake friends, she reunites with her best friend Brian and makes a beautiful video in homage to Bailey, her friend from the previous summer who died of leukaemia.
Carmen spends the summer first trying to sabotage her mother's relationship with David because she seems to fear the change it would bring. Eventually she realises how true her mother's feelings are for David and brings them back together.
Finally, Lena returns to Greece when her grandfather dies as the result of a stroke. There she meets Kostos again, where she is shocked to discover he is married. He tells her that after she broke his heart, he fell into a depression and slept with his now-wife. She fell pregnant and so although Kostos maintains that he doesn't love her, he claims that he must do the honourable thing and marry her anyway.
Throughout the turbulent summer, the Pants keep the girls united in a way that nothing else ever can, and they learn who they really are at the end of the day.

I love this series. It's totally unique- who else would think of a series that revolves around magical pants?! The girls are all so different and yet they're bonded in a way that you don't see very often. Their troubles and experiences are unusual and I just adored reading about them. I felt that even though I hadn't been through it myself, I could connect with them nonetheless.
The books were thrilling, heartfelt and a joy to read. Loved it :)
