...Friday

Lady Friday

Arthur Penhaligon, boy from the human realms who has suddenly found himself the "Rightful" Heir to the Architect's House, has defeated Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday, Drowned Wednesday, and Sir Thursday (All from the previous books). Obtaining a sorcerous key and a part of the Architect's living Will with each victory. Now, as he prepares to face Lady Friday so that he can finish this cosmic business, saves his family, and get back to having a normal life, he is extremely surprised by receiving a message from Lady Friday saying that she has given up her throne, and has left her part of the Will as well as her key in her portion of the Middle House, for whoever finds it first. Arthur has to race Superior Saturday and the Piper (enemies he encountered in his previous adventure) to Lady Friday's Scriptorium (a room in a monastery for storing, copying, illustrating, or reading manuscripts) and find the disguised artifacts.

Help provided from his old friends, Suzy Turquoise Blue and Fred Initial Numbers Gold. But Arthur must be cautious of them, because they are also Piper's children (beings whose will's can be taken over by the Piper if he is close enough for them to hear him give an order).

Meanwhile, back in the Secondary Realms, Arthur's friend Leaf is witness to what Lady Friday has been doing -- which is, making off with coma patients from hospitals and taking them through a portal to another world, another
planet, where she stores them for her to later experience, a practice that Arthur learns about only after making his journey to the Middle House and encountering and assisting the Winged Servants of the Night in their battle against the Artful Loungers, as well as Friday's Dawn and his contingent of Gilded

I like this book because it shows adventure

Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

This was when the Great Prophecy came true.
The war between the gods and the Titans, especially the most powerful titans, Kronos - the father of Poseidon, Zeus and Hades had finally begun. All the Olympians had to fight with Typhon, the greatest monster of all time. There's only one god left, Hestia- the god of hearth, the last olympian. Only Percy can protect the Empire State Building where the Olympus stays on the 500th floor. Unfortunately, the enemy force was too big and Percy was losing more and more fighters. Just when it seemed like they are going to lose, Hades and Poseidon came to the rescue. Poseidon with his army trapped the Typhon for just a few minutes while all the other 11 gods were fighting it for days. Hades appeared with his son Nico and the whole army of the dead, slashing all the enemy. However, Kronos made a protection wall around the Empire State building and ran up to the 500th floor. Its all up to Percy, Annabeth and Grover to try and kill him.
Can they do it? Can Percy do it? Can he defeat the most powerful Titan and receive a wish that no hero was given for hundred years?

Diary of a wimpy Kid-Dog Days

This is a book by Jeff Kinney. I love this book. It is both funny and interesting. it is about a simply child who is pretty much a nerd.. I'm pretty sure most of you have already read this book but like.. yeah.. i like it. i especially like it because it's the newest one, i have read all books from no.1 through 5. This book if not just for people for my age either. I've seen people at the ages of 20 reading this as well as people at the ages of 10. I believe that this is a good book because it is something i can relate to. it keeps me on my toes although i must admit that sometimes, the book will begin to become slightly boring which may lower your expectations. Even though most of you have already read this book, I recommend all of you to read it. Maybe not Ms. Chapman though because i don't think she will really like this book. I recommend this book to anybody in need of a book which they can read. i don't know if they provide this book in the library although they provide other books from this series but you must get it fast because others are looking for them too. As a conclusion, i believe this book in fantastic and isn't boring throughout. this is a book by CARLTONATICCCCC!!!

Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

Percy set another school on fire. And he also found a mortal that can see through the mist, even clearer than him. Percy nearly turn 15 now, 1 more year till the Great Prophecy which said that he'll be the one who decide the fate of Olympus when he turn 16.

Luke, the traitor, was finding a way through the Labyrinth to attack the camp from the inside. Thousands and thousands of monsters would come to attack the camp and no one can stop it. The Labyrinth is the magical maze, which was built by Daedalus, that live and grow by itself, getting bigger day by day. On the way through the maze, he found Nico - son of Hades - who ran away after he found out about his sister's death and blamed Percy for that, and managed to talk to him.

It was up to Percy and Annabeth to find a way to the middle of the maze to find Daedalus and told him not to help Luke's army. It was impossible but then he realised that he know the way to get through the maze. But even if he reach Daedalus, can he stop Luke's army from invading the camp?

Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan

Percy, Annabeth, Thalia and Grover was on a mission to bring two demigods, Bianca and Nico, back to camp when a little incident happened. They nearly got killed by a manticore when the Hunters, lead by Artemis - sister of Apollo, rescued them. Unfortunately when the manticore jumped down the cliff, he took Annabeth with him.
The manticore mentioned something about the Stirring Monster and Artemis decided to go find and kill the monster. She left the Hunters and told them to go to half-blood camp. They were back to camp for several days when Percy dreamt about Annabeth was tricked to hold a ceiling from falling down by Luke who betrayed the camp and follow the Titans and Zoe Nightshade, Artemis' lieutenant, dreamt about Artemis in trouble. Later Percy found out that the Titans used Annabeth as a bait to trick Artemis to hold the ceiling, and the ceiling is atually the sky which used to be hold by Atlas.
Percy, Thalia, Grover, Zoe Nightshade and Bianca, who joined the Hunters, went on a quest to safe Artemis and Annabeth. They got a prophecy that 5 would leave the camp to go on the quest but only 3 would return.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

This is the second book in Percy Jackson's series. It was the last day of school and Percy thought that this year would be the first school year that he won't get expelled when a bunch of cannibal giants came and burn down the gym for him. Just when he nearly lost and got killed, Annabeth, his camp mate, rescued him. He went to camp and found out that Thalia's tree - the tree that helps keeping the monsters and mortals out of the camp - was poisoned.

He started to get dreams about Grover, his satyr friend who was on a trip to find Pan - the wild god - and hadn't return yet. Grover was stuck in an island in the sea of monsters with a Polyphemus who thought Grover was a female-Polyphemus. It won't be long until he find out that Grover is actually a satyr and eat him. Grover created a 'sympathy link' because it's the only way he could tell Percy what was happening and if he die, Percy would die as well.

Now Percy has to go and rescue Grover, also to get the Golden Fleece to cure Thalia's tree or the camp will be invaded by monsters, big ones.

The Stars Shine Down

One of the books I have read recently is called "The Stars Shine Down" by Sidney Sheldon. This book is fictional and I think the theme is classical but overall the book is really absorbing and a good way to pass your time. In addition to that I would like to warn you students, who are interested in this book, that this book contains quite sensitive information so just bear that in mind.
The main character of this book is a woman called Lara Cameron. She grew up in a poor town in Canada called Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and was loathed by her father right from when she was born. He claimed that she had "killed his only love" by being born into this world. Since Lara was born she was harshly challenged by the world and didn't feel any remorse when her uncaring father died when she was a teenager. After her father's death Lara decided to indulge herself in real estate and faced many challenges like: bankruptcy, having to sleep with men against her will, keep up her good publicity and most importantly, to gain her true love. She found it when she met the reincarnation of Mozart, Phillip Adler. In the story Lara had also been under the acquaintance of a man where his family is closely related to the mafia, nearly lost her love, and many more delighting events to read.
Personally I like this kind of book a lot and recommend it for people who wants a good time to know about real estate, romance, the mafia and much more!

Missing Judy.

This is the book that I am reading recently. I haven’t quite finished it but I think it is really interesting so I decide to recommend it to everyone. Its genre can be assumed as mysterious, if there is that kind of genre. The book is about a girl named Kim Hockney. According to the story, she is a college student and is having a holiday. She goes home to visit her family. Throughout the first two or three chapters, she says that she has a sister who has been missing since she was 12 or younger. The structure is quite complicated, she keeps flashing back to the past and then back to the present. Sometimes I just have to question how old is she actually. In her flashback, she describes the day she lost her sister in lots of details. She explains how did she feel, describes what did her sister- Judy- wear, how did other people look at them, where did they go. Not in order thought.
After Judy’s missing , Kim and her parents tried everything to find her. They seem to be hopeless until some evidences turn up.
This is so far what I read.

Vampire Acadmey-VAMPIRE ACADEMY

hello again (:

Vampire Academy is the first book in the series. It is my favourite book from the series.

***************************************************************************

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school–it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's–the very place where they're most in danger. Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.

This is the order from the best to the least:

Morois, Dhampirs, Strigois and humans.

au revoir (:

The Cherub- Class A

This book is the second series of ‘The Cherub’ and it is called ‘Class A’. I started reading this book after Tyler said this is really a good book and actually, it is a really good book to read and I cannot stop reading them. This series is in the library but it is quite popular so I just started from the second one.

The Cherub is a branch of British Intelligence made by the agents of aged 10 to 17. Those children are mainly orphans and they are trained in the building in countryside. They wear a different shirt colours depend on their effort and age. The main character is James and he joined the Cherub with is sister called Lauren.

In ‘Class A’, James gets on a mission considered as a high risk and he helps to find the evidence to catch a drug dealer. So James goes into that town with the other agents, pretending that they are actually a family. Each of the Cherub agents has a person to get close and James becomes a part of the kids that hands drugs to other people.

However, even though they were restricted to take drugs, some of the agents actually took drug. One of them takes a Class A drug which would make them to be kicked out of Cherubs.

James actually gets along with this family quite well so he starts to deal with the Class A drug dealers. Finally, he achieves the mission successfully and starts to wear a Black t-shirt which is given to the people who had achieved an outstanding effort on their mission.

This book was the one that I felt really exciting and enjoyable while I was reading it and I couldn’t stop while I was reading it. I’d like to recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a book with exciting adventures of secret agents.

I think this book is a great book because it is a fantasy which is realistic and it relates to old magic.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets

Harry Potter is now a wizrd. It his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraf and Wizrdry. Some messages on the walls on the school's corridors warn that the "Chamber of Secrets" has been opened and that the "heir of Slytherin" will kill all students who do not come from all-magical families. These threats are followed by attacks. Throughout the year, Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger investigate the attacks, and Harry is now with Lord Voldemort as a teacher , who is attempting to get full power. Meanwhile, Harry, Ron, and Hermione discover Moaning Myrtle, the ghost of a girl who was killed the last time the Chamber was opened. Myrtle shows Harry a diary about the name Tom Marvolo Riddle. Although its pages are blank, it tells him when Harry writes in it. Eventually the book shows him Hogwarts as it was fifty years ago. There he sees Tom Riddle, a student at the time, the blame for opening the Chamber on Rubeus Hagrid, who was then thirteen years old. Four months later, the diary is stolen. However, she holds a note explaining that the one who stole was a basilisk . Hermione say that the monster travels through the school's pipes and walk through the toilet Myrtle haunts.

The New Policeman

This is a fiction book type written by Kate Thompson in 2005. It is the winner of both the Whitbread Children's Book Award and the 2005 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. After reading this book, I find that the plot is really boring because it just rotates around how music can inspire people to do something, a fact that everyone has known very clearly; in other words, there is no any other complicated or interesting fact about the characters or any special moments to 'hook' me. You can find this by looking at the chapters in the story-Each of them is very short; about 10 page long and there is a sheet with musical notes written on it, which makes the story more boring in terms of structure.

For the plot part, the book just rotates around with the giving presents for Helen Liddy all the time without adding or having any great details and sentence structures that make the story more interesting; it just lists facts and facts with no descriptions for each one. The only change that the author has made is that there is a fifteen year-old boy, called JJ, keeps coming to Helen's house to invite her to come to his house. This is even more boring.

In conclusion, I would not recommend you to read this book because it is exactly as same as a sleep-maker.

Black And White -Paul Volponi

Marcus and Eddie are best friends and were nicknamed Black and White. The reason because Marcus is black and Eddie is white. They're stars of their school basketball team. They looked past stereotypes and found a way to break through the racial barrier. But with one mistake made and their friendship and lives will be change forever.
This is an interesting book because if have two narrators and they're Marcus and Eddie. The story is revoled around the normal high school. Eddie one day found a gun from his father's room nad decided to use it to make money with Eddie. They have been on many robberies but someday the truth will be find out.
Read it to find out.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief

It's about a boy named Perseus Jackson but everyone calls him Percy. He was kicked out of 6 schools in 6 year and in year 6 he found out that he's not who he thinks he is. He had always thought that he's a mortal but actually he's a demigod, son of Poseidon - the god of the sea and earthquake. He went to a camp for half-bloods and went on a quest to find back his mother, who was taken by the Minotaur, and Zeus' lightning bolts from Hades. But then he found out that Hades is actually not the thief.

Maximum Ride - School's out forever

This is the second book of the Maximum Ride series, and Max is on the run. She runs away from the Institute, which is the place she went to find out about the parents, and killed Ari

(an Eraser). She rus away, but after a few days, a bunch of Erasers come chasing after her. It isn't unusual for the Erasers to chase her, but this time, they have wings, and their leader Ari - whom Max had killed - is back from the dead.

After the fight with the Erasers, the flock - Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman, and Angel, head to Washington, where most of the flock's parents seems to be living in. However, Fang is hurt badly after the fight, and has to go to the hospital. Due to the fact that the flock has wings, the FBI come to research about them. Max makes a deal to go to an FBI agent (Anne)'s house and stay there and make the doctors cure Fang, and Max will give information.

The flock has peace in Anne's house, and they have to go to school, which they've never been to.

However, the school was actually a trip to capture the flock, so they had to leave urgently and head to Anne's house. There, Max finds a surprising fact that Anne was actually a leader of the School (the place where they made Max bird-kid and is trying to catch her).

As a result, the flock are on the run again, and this time to the company named Itex. This company is planning to destroy the world and it's Max's mission to stop them. On the other hand, the School had made a clone of Max, and replaces Max with the clone. The clone leads the flock into Itex, but Max manages to escape and the flock is rejoined. The flock is on the run....again.

This book is a great book, but I recommend that you read the first one first (Maximum Ride - The Angel Experiment). It's full of suspense and the action keeps on going from start to finish.

Vampire Academy-FROSTBITE

I know that Rosie has blogged all the Vampire Academy series. She let me borrow her books, and they really are amazing. So I bought the books myself as well. I read all of them 3 times already. That good. (: THANKYOU ROSIE (:

Frostbite is the second book in the series. There are 3 types of vampires. The Moroi, the Dhampirs and the Strigois. Morois and Dhampirs are born, but the Strigois are made. Strigois are immortal vampires who hunt down the Morois.

The main character in the book is Rose. She is a Dhampir -a half human, half Moroi. She is a guardian, like most Dhampirs. Guardians who are Dhampirs protect the Morois (Royals) from danger and Strigois.

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...
It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians--including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway.

This book has a sad ending; her friend, Mason, who had the biggest crush on her EVER, has died due to a Strigoi attack in her face. She is devastated and scared at the same time.

******************************************************************

You should TOTALLY read the series. They are sooooooooooooooooo much better than Twilight. AWESOME (: Highly recommended. The 5th book is coming out on May 18th!

au revoir (:

Cirque du Freak

After watching the superb movie, I decided to read the books (mostly because Alice kept mentioning how the film had altered the original story).

The Vampire's Assistant is told in the first person, coming from main character Darren's perspective. He's your typical teenage boy; his best friend, Steve, isn't. They both have unusual interests- Darren adores spiders and Steve is obsessed with vampires.

One night, they go to the Cirque du Freak- an illegal freak show. After a few events that I won't share here, Darren discovers that Steve would willingly give up everything to become a vampire. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you view it), Steve is denied his request. Darren steals one of the show's stars, a spider named Madam Octa and from there onwards he spends as much time as possible training her.

Eventually, Steve finds out about Madam Octa and offers to help Darren train her. Inevitably, this ends disastrously, with Madam Octa biting Steve. He lapses into a coma and Darren almost loses his mind with worry, fear and guilt. He decides to visit the vampire he stole the spider from, and realises that he'd been deceived from the start.

He makes a deal with the vampire- he will become his assistant in return for a serum that will save Steve's life. Both ends of the bargain are kept, but in the crossfire Steve turns against Darren, believing he deliberately plotted against him in order to steal the future Steve so desperately sought.

It's a great book, if a little short and suspenseful. But I can't wait to read the others and find out more about Darren's new life as the vampire's assistant. :)
